The recent developments in Zimbabwe generally and on the political landscape have raised a lot of moral , ethical,and ideological challenges for me and I guess many others like me. First there is the issue of Simba(which in Zulu means trash and in Kiswahili LION......how ironic?).

Indeed there are many who would happily go along with the Zulu meaning of the man's name and yet many others who would rather believe that the LION that will defeat Bona's son has finally come out of hiding? As we oft said in the years past , IMF....(meaning It is Mugabe's Fault).

The last 8 years have failed to produce the kind of change that the country required to lift it up instead the political and economic crisis has worsened.
It is generally agreed that the political stalemate of the last 8 years is a reflection of a leadership deficit that is characteristic of many post colonial states in which fear is the optimal currency used to regulate and manage political behaviour under the guise of consensus and nation building.

FOLLOWING Simba Makoni’s decision to run for President on March 29, the time may be ripe for opposition faction leader Morgan Tsvangirai and Arthur Mutambara to pack in and run for parliament instead.

Mutambara acknowledges his limits in the presidential race at the present moment and regards himself really as a future president. This is why, in my opinion, he has been ready at various times in the unity discussions between the two MDC factions to play second fiddle to Morgan.

Simba Makoni is being touted in and outside Zimbabwe as a possible challenger to Mugabe in the forthcoming presidential elections in which he will be the flag bearer of a hitherto-be formed political party.

It is claimed that so exciting is this Project Makoni that the BBC being officially banned from Zimbabwe, had to border-jump into the country at great risk for their Chief Correspondent John Simpson simply to cover the developing news. The problem with the west at times is that they think they know and understand our politics much better than we do. Already they think that Makoni has all the answers to our problems and that he will definitely win the elections. The truth could never be further!

Church leaders are supposed to be the shepherds of the people but instead many of them in Zimbabwe are enriching themselves using God’s name. This is misleading and must be exposed now rather than later.
